Mechanical Foam Stored Pressure Type Fire Extinguisher

A stored-pressure extinguisher discharging mechanical (AFFF) foam. The foam blankets a burning liquid surface, cutting off oxygen and sealing in vapours to prevent re-ignition — something powder does not do. That makes it particularly effective on Class B flammable liquid fires such as solvents, thinners, oils and fuels, while remaining usable on Class A solids. A common specification for solvent stores, tank areas and drum yards. Not for use on live electrical equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does foam beat powder on a solvent fire?

Foam blankets the burning liquid surface and seals the vapours in, so it cannot re-ignite. Powder knocks the flame down but leaves the hot liquid exposed and vapour can flash back.

Can it be used on live electrical equipment?

No. Foam is water-based and conducts. For electrical risk use CO2 or a clean agent.

What fires is it rated for?

Class A and Class B — ordinary combustibles and flammable liquids.
