D Class SS Body - Stored Pressure Type

A stainless steel bodied extinguisher charged with a special dry powder for Class D fires — combustible metals such as magnesium, aluminium swarf, sodium and potassium. Class D fires react violently with water and are not controlled by ABC powder, CO2 or foam, so a dedicated Class D agent is the only correct choice. Applied gently to smother the metal and exclude air. Required wherever metal machining, grinding or reactive metal handling takes place.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Class D fire?

A fire involving combustible metals — magnesium, aluminium swarf, sodium, potassium. It occurs wherever metal is machined, ground or handled in reactive form.

Why can't I use water or ABC powder?

Class D fires react violently with water, and ABC powder, CO2 and foam do not control them. A dedicated Class D agent is the only correct choice.

How is it applied?

Gently, to smother the burning metal and exclude air — not blasted at it, which would scatter burning material.
